On September 29th, 1935, a boat was launched in Auckland, New Zealand — Roiaata, a true classic crafted by the legendary Tercel brothers. Exactly 59 years later to the day, I was born. A coincidence at first glance — but one whose meaning would unfold with time.

Twenty-six years later, I stumbled across Roiaata by chance. The moment I saw her, it felt like more than fate. I wasn’t just discovering an old yacht — I was stepping into a new way of life. One full of adventure, resilience, and the craft of traditional wooden boatbuilding.

Bringing Roiaata back to life has become my mission. Not just to restore a vessel, but to honor a legacy and carve out a life shaped by purpose, perseverance, and the sea.
